I'm a product designer who makes complex systems feel simple.
Over the past decade, I’ve designed products in high-stakes environments: enterprise security, Series A startups, and design agencies.
I spent four years in DesignOps at Cisco, scaling design systems and processes for distributed teams. That experience gave me a systems-level perspective most IC designers don’t develop: I see how design decisions ripple across teams, tooling, and the broader org.
I’m also a Marine Corps Reserve veteran. That experience taught me how to operate under pressure and navigate ambiguity, skills that translate directly to complex stakeholder environments and high-stakes product work.
I build trust through curiosity. I ask questions until I understand not just what users need, but why the system works the way it does. Then I bring stakeholders along as we untangle the problem together. No black-box design, no throwing work over the fence.
My best work happens when I’m simplifying something complex for people who don’t have time to figure it out themselves.
I’m based in Greater Philadelphia. When I’m not designing, I’m usually playing bass or losing at chess.

Two experiences I designed at Mass Relevance were part of the work that earned a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award
“Desmond is fast, efficient, and thoughtful in his design approach. He has a unique ability to understand a problem, find and design the best solution, and then present this solution to stakeholders getting the buy-in and support needed. That is something really amazing to witness.Mike Hall, Product Design Lead
